Born and raised near Detroit, Ryan became an avid Michigan Wolverines football fan because he could recognize talent on the field quickly (sorry Lions fans). After studying English literature at the University of Michigan, Ryan relocated to the City of Broad Shoulders for law school at John Marshall.
Ryan’s passion for employment law began shortly after his admission to the bar when he assisted with a gender discrimination trial against an Illinois county sheriff’s office. After a jury verdict in his clients’ favor, Ryan was hooked and has practiced employment law almost exclusively since then.
Prior to joining the Wood Law Office, LLC, Ryan gained experience in all aspects of litigation in federal and state court while working at a boutique employment law firm. Ryan served as the second chair in a federal disability discrimination trial that resulted in a substantial verdict for his client.
As an associate at The Wood Law Office, LLC, Ryan represents employees and employers in a diverse array of employment law matters. He has experience litigating cases brought under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act. Ryan also has guided clients through the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission process and negotiated numerous settlement agreements on behalf of his clients.
Ryan lives in Greektown with his wife and enjoys films, books and even books that become films (especially if they are about Michigan football).
